- Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries
The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries shall carry out the purposes and goals of the Session, Pastor, and Christian Education Committee as related to these areas of ministry within the church and community. The Director shall do this initiating creative ways to build growth: in spiritual nurturing, relationships, participation, and numbers of the Director's constituent groups and individuals in the total life of the congregation and its mission. The Director will provide a wholesome Christian model for youth and their families and will be active within the church as both participant and leader, getting to know individuals and families, offering help and support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred or higher
Profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
Active Membership in a church
Education in basic Bible knowledge, basic practical theology, and understanding of the life and purpose of the mainstream Christian Church
Position Description:
Facilitate Sunday School class or classes for youth
Plan and lead a weekly program for all senior high youth
Plan and lead a weekly program for all middle school youth
Plan special events, activities, outings, and retreats for youth, including summer youth trips
Oversee youth fundraising efforts
Collaborate with Youth Advisory Subcommittee and Christian Education Committee
Lead a team with the pastor, Christian Education Director (DCE), Christian Education Committee, and parents in developing and implementing a confirmation/professing/commissioning program in the spring
Lead a team with the pastor, the DCE and the Christian Education Committee in maintaining and expanding the youth program
Lead a team with the pastor, DCE, and the Christian Education committee in identifying the young adult constituency [college and post-college, age 18 - 25] and developing a young adult ministry
Attend and participate in all committee meetings that pertain to the youth program and young adults
Bring outside resources in for development of the youth program and young adult program
Maintain Youth and Young Adult Ministries budget
Participate with youth in Sunday worship
Participate in church events
Participate in Vacation Bible School
Accountability: The Director is accountable to the Session, the Pastor, and the Christian Education Committee. Relationships with other committees such as Fellowship and Evangelism, Outreach (mission), and Worship may be developed in regard to certain programs and activities. The Director shall participate fully in meetings and retreats of the church staff, and shall make an effort to relate to accountability and nurture groups within the presbytery and other youth/young adult leadership networks within the region. Annual review, annual salary adjustments, and grievances shall be through the Session's Personnel Committee.
