OUR HISTORY

At the end of 1988, members of the Hayward Chinese for Christ Church who resided In the Tri-Valley area began to realize that the Chinese population in the area had grown very fast. Thus, they proposed to begin an outreach effort in the Tri-Valley area. At the beginning of the next year, an “Evangelism Station” was formed in Dublin conducting evangelistic meetings every other Saturday. In October 1989, Reverend Stephen Chiu started Chinese Sunday worship service in Dublin, along with about 40 members including children. The “Tri-Valley Chinese Bible Church” was officially established in October, 1990.

Initially, the Sunday worship services were held at a facility generously offered by the Dublin Baptist Church. Praise the Lord that within two years, membership had grown so fast that the church decided to purchase our current building in 1992. We leased the Pleasanton Community Church for our church meetings while our new building was under renovation. On the first Sunday in June of 1994, we finally moved into the building that God had prepared for us.

Subsequently, God continued to add His sheep to our church. Through solid Biblical teaching, there has been much spiritual growth among our brothers and systems; and many families have been blessed with God’s grace.

TCBC's original Vision & Mission (at its founding)

Vision

TCBC exists to reach the people in our daily lives with the Gospel, to connect them with other Christians, to help them grow into Christ-likeness, and to challenge the growing to discover their ministry so that all may honor God with their lives.

Mission

Our church mission is based on Jesus Christ’s Great Commission, as stated in the Gospel of Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing the in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Therefore, our mission consists of:

1. Evangelism (lead people to Christ)

Since TCBC was established, outreach has been one of our major focuses. In addition to outreaching to our community, we have also been involved in oversea missions. In the beginning, due to a lack of financial resources, our oversea mission project was managed in coordination with our Hayward Chinese for Christ Church until 1997. Since then TCBC has been sponsoring many short term mission trips to places like Taiwan, Mongolia, Mexico, Central and South America.

2. Training and discipleship

To fulfill Jesus Christ’s Great Commission, TCBC has resolved to equip disciples in:

  • (a) Worship
  • (b) Fellowship
  • (c) Discipleship
  • (d) Evangelism
  • (e) Ministry
