Director of Children's Ministry
Time Requirements: This is a part-time salaried position requiring presence on Sunday mornings, Sunday and Wednesday evenings, monthly staff meetings (currently held on Thursday evenings), Children’s Team meetings and
all Grace Kids and other special events. The remaining time and location of the schedule is flexible. This position includes two weeks paid vacation, four Sundays off annually and retirement benefits.
Qualifications, Skills, Gifts: A college degree or post high school education in education or ministry preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. Must be committed to the vision, values, and beliefs of the church. Should demonstrate evidence of a
Christ-like attitude in words and actions. Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated. Should be able to recruit, manage, and encourage a team of volunteers. Must have a heart and passion for children and possess understanding and patience. Must
have good organization skills and have the demonstrated ability to connect with all children, organize safe activities, ensure responsible behavior, and promote the Grace Kids program within Grace and throughout the community. Requires excellent communication
skills and the ability to work with the church staff, parents, other congregants, etc. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a maturing faith, and an understanding of Methodist doctrine.
Description of Duties: Will 1) develop, promote, and direct a Christian ministry to children (birth through 5th Grade), 2) plan, organize and implement all Sunday and Wednesday evening programming, 3) retain and recruit volunteers, 4) supervise Nursery Coordinator
and paid nursery staff, 5) implement and execute Grace UMC’s, Easter, summer VBS and Fall Fest outreach events, 6) attend Children’s Team, and additional Church meetings to represent the interests of children’s ministries, 7) maintain a knowledge of the child
protection policy and holding children’s ministries accountable to them, 8) participate in budget planning, 9) and build relationships with all age groups.
Responsible To: Senior Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)

Huntsville, but close to the Monrovia, Harvest, and Madison communities.
