Living Grace Community Church, located in the Chicago northwest suburb of Cary, IL is seeking an Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Mobilization. Living Grace Community Church has experienced significant growth in the last three years and the church is eager to grow in the Word of God as we seek to help people find hope in Jesus for all of life. Living Grace has a hunger for God's Word and the ideal candidate for this role will create pathways of discipleship that will strengthen Living Grace's efforts towards helping people grow in Christ, enjoy Christ, and reach their world for Christ. 

Summary

Living Grace Community Church seeks an Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Mobilization to provide leadership and oversight for the development of ministries, mobilization efforts, and strategic planning. This role involves building relationships, creating opportunities for service, and mobilizing the church community for gospel advancement in Cary, McHenry County, and beyond. This role shares responsibility for supporting and directing church staff and volunteer ministry leaders. The Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Mobilization will report to the Senior Pastor and be ultimately accountable to the Elder Board.

Primary Purpose

The Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Mobilization will implement a pathway to discipleship that brings the people of Living Grace into a deeper understanding of biblical truths that results in helping people find hope in Jesus for all of life. This role will also implement pathways in the church that engage people to connect with ministries in the church resulting in them connecting with people at Living Grace.

Role Responsibilities

Discipleship

  • Provide leadership, strategic planning, and oversight for developing adult ministries.

  • Support the development of vibrant life-groups and other small groups growing in Christ through

    Scripture reading and Christ-centered resources and opportunities (including, for example, regular

    meeting with small group leaders for coaching and support).

  • Support the Senior Pastor in maximizing the impact of ministry teams, serving as an effective liaison

    between those groups and the Elder Board.

Mobilization

  • Build relationships inside and outside the church to find opportunities for gospel service and advancement.

  • Develop an effective regimen for connecting with first-time attendes and regular guests and church members.

  • Explore, create and implement opportunities for the church body to serve and connect.

  • Support the Senior Pastor in recruiting, training, and developing staff and volunteers.

  • Mobilize and lead the church body through service opportunities, including local service, short-term

    missions, and volunteer placements.

  • Mentor, encourage, and shepherd volunteer ministry leaders

  • Communicate our mobilization work through stories, prayer, connection, and vision-casting.

  • Develop and pursue cross-cultural and cross-generational ministry, leveraging technology and other

    tools for gospel impact.

Other Duties

  • Support the Senior Pastor in congregational care activities such as hospital visits, counseling, and other care.

  • Coordinate and occasionally lead staff meetings, ensuring alignment with the church's mission and goals.

  • Manage administrative tasks as assigned (for example, budgeting, people management, communications, etc.).

  • Preach at both services 6-8 Sundays per year, and additionally as needed.

  • Support the Senior Pastor to develop strategic worship and preaching plans.

  • Support the Senior Pastor in providing funeral, baptismal, and wedding services as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Displays personal integrity, intimacy with God, and a teachable spirit.

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but not required.

  • Experience in recruiting, training, and team building with volunteers.

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaborative skills preferred.

  • Willingness to become a visible and actively participating member of Living Grace Community Church.

We anticipate this role will require an average of 45 or more hours per week, with flexibility based on ministry needs. The Living Grace Community Church Elder Board is praying for a disciple passionate about disciple-making; a creative mind; and a partner able to navigate conflict in a Christ-honoring manner. Our ideal candidate will be a unifying presence and an effective communicator who demonstrates love and respect for others.

What It's Like To Live In Cary:

The Village of Cary is located 45 miles from downtown Chicago and is one of the premier suburbs in all of Chicagoland. Cary has excellent schools and is primarily made up of young and middle aged families. We have a wonderful park district with several parks for young children and a new swimming facitiliy, Sunburst Bay. Sunburst Bay is a great place for families to enjoy a summer day at the pool with diving boards, slides, and other children's activities. We also have excellent walking and biking trails throughout the community. Cary boasts what many in Chicago believe to be the best hamburger and pizza in all of Chicagoland: Track's Hamburgers and Uncle Jerry's Pizza Company.

We are located between the larger suburbs of Barrington and Crystal Lake. The surrounding areas have great restaurants, recreation activities, and gyms for personal leisure. There are four airport options near Cary: O Hare (40 minute drive), Midway (75 minute drive), Milwaukee (70 minute drive), and Rockford (60 minute drive). Cary is a remarkable place to raise a family and call home.
