We are a church passionate about sharing the love of Christ, fostering spiritual growth, and serving our local communities. With two locations, we are looking for a leader who can unite our campuses under a shared vision while embracing the unique strengths of each.

Position Overview

The Senior Pastor will serve as the spiritual leader and primary communicator for our church, overseeing both campuses in partnership with staff, elders, and ministry teams. This role requires a heart for preaching, pastoral care, and leadership, with the ability to connect with a diverse congregation and empower others in ministry. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, visionary leader who can shepherd our church into its next season of impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preaching & Teaching: Deliver biblically grounded, engaging sermons that inspire and equip our congregation, traveling between campuses and working with our ministry teams.
  • Vision & Leadership: Cast and implement a unifying vision for both campuses in collaboration with church leadership, making disciples for the glory of God.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide compassionate care, counseling, and support to members across both locations.
  • Discipleship: Fostering a culture of discipleship and connection.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and empower staff, ensuring effective ministry operations and growth at each campus.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the church in the broader community, building relationships and identifying opportunities for outreach and service.
  • Administration: Oversee church operations alongside executive pastor, staff and elders, including budget planning, staff management, and multi-campus coordination.

Qualifications

  • A deep, personal faith in Jesus Christ and a calling to pastoral ministry.
  • Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Bachelor of Biblical Studies or equivalent theological education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of pastoral experience, with proven leadership in a multi-staff or multi-campus setting a plus.
  • Strong preaching and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse age groups and backgrounds.
  • Experience in team leadership, conflict resolution, and organizational management.
  • A collaborative spirit and a heart for empowering others in ministry.

History

Summit Church was founded in 2009 with a vision to make disciples for God's glory in the Tri-City area, starting with a small group led by the founding pastor and his wife, who were chosen by the Evangelical Covenant Church. Summit began meeting in a barn, held its first worship service at Mid America Christian University on August 23, 2009, and later moved to the "Old" Newcastle High School Gym by November 22, fostering a key partnership with Newcastle Public Schools. After growing to 250 people in the Newcastle Middle School Cafeteria in 2010, the church purchased and renovated a permanent building at 101 N. Main, originally the First Baptist Church, holding its first service there on February 27, 2011, and expanding to the Newcastle High School Auditorium in 2013.

In 2016, Summit merged with Antioch Christian Church, supported by both congregations, and opened its renovated South Oklahoma City location on March 26, 2017. In 2018, another merger with University Christian Church in Norman, approved overwhelmingly, led to a multi-campus church by late 2019 after extensive remodeling. These mergers strengthened Summit’s mission to make disciples in Southwest OKC and Norman, enhancing its community outreach and reflecting God’s provision for its ongoing growth.
